20th Year Celebration

Hollonville Opry House Celebrates 20 Years!

If the walls of the Hollonville Opry House could talk what stories they could tell!
Walls can’t talk but people can and they have. The musicians, who have performed on the Opry House stage, and the fun loving music appreciative fans, tell of the good times.

In the spring of 1991, twenty people met on the back porch of a home in Pike County Georgia. These folk had a dream with a mission. The dream was to create a place where they could enjoy their music and the mission was to preserve the ole time bluegrass, country & gospel sounds.

Hollonville Opry House first opened its doors on Saturday, July 20, 1991 and for twenty years the doors have been open most every Saturday night. The auditorium fills up with folk eager to hear that “pickin & grinnin” and they are not disappointed. The stage curtain opens at 6:30pm and the music begins. Bluegrass, gospel & ole time country music rings out from the stage for approximately 3 & ½ hours. There is also a jam room adjacent to the auditorium and an outside pavilion where jammers can come and get a good jam going on.

Several changes have occurred during these 20 years but the mission and the dream continue. Several volunteers continue to give their time and efforts in insuring the continuation of the Opry House. Musicians and entertainers continue to drive many miles to perform on stage at the Opry House and the devoted and energetic Saturday night crowds at Hollonville still love to show the performing bands their appreciation.

The managers of the Opry House look back with grateful hearts and look forward with anticipation. There are still songs that need to be sung and instruments that need to be played, and there’s still fans waiting to hear.
